Wound Care Certification

In 2002, Nancy Morgan and Donna Sardina saw a need for nurses and other healthcare professionals who were enthusiastic about wound care, but accessibility to wound care did not exist.  They decided to form the Wound Care Education Institute to help improve wound care outcomes through educational classes & training for wound care.

The Wound Care Education Institute provides certification courses that “prepares you to pursue wound care or ostomy credentials and gives you in-depth clinical knowledge that will help you improve patient outcomes and remain legally defensible at the bedside.” To become certified in wound care, you take a variety of courses, seminars, and practical skin & wound management training to help prepare you for a certification exam.

Recently, one of our nurses obtained a certification in wound care.  Kristi Martin completed the Wound Care Education Institute’s Skin and Wound course and the national examination.  She now has the designation of Wound Care Certified (WCC).

Kristi has been a nurse for eight years, including three years with Radford Health & Rehab Center. She is the mother of two talented teenage sons and supports them in their various school and community engagements.  Our residents and patients love Kristi! She always goes above & beyond to make sure the residents and patients have what they need.

Congratulations, Kristi!
